When one becomes two!
In this project, we took on the exciting challenge of converting a spacious downstairs bathroom into a functional cloakroom and an elegant ensuite. This transformation is particularly special for us, as it marks the third property in the same complex to undergo a similar makeover. Our aim was to create two distinct yet cohesive spaces that feel light and airy, despite the absence of windows.
The overall design philosophy revolved around using neutral colours, which serve as a calming backdrop while allowing for interesting textures to shine through. We chose a palette that includes soft greys and warm whites, ensuring that the spaces feel open and inviting.
To elevate the aesthetic, we incorporated textural elements into the basin unit and tile selections. The basin unit features a unique finish that adds depth and character, while the tiles in both spaces boast subtle variations that enhance their visual appeal. This attention to detail ensures that even a neutral scheme can be rich and engaging.
One of the standout elements of the ensuite is the custom niche shelf, designed with sleek mitred edges. This shelf not only provides a practical storage solution for toiletries but also serves as a design focal point. The addition of an LED strip behind the shelf creates a soft glow, enhancing the sense of spaciousness and warmth.
In the shower area, the minimalist fixtures blend seamlessly with the stone-textured tiles, creating a spa-like atmosphere. The overhead rain shower and handheld options offer an indulgent experience while maintaining a clean and modern look.
The cloakroom features a streamlined design, with a wall-mounted basin unit that maximizes floor space. The combination of sleek hardware and brick tiles ensures a cohesive look that ties in beautifully with the ensuite. Thoughtful lighting choices, including wall sconces, further enhance the ambiance, making the space feel both functional and stylish.
With both areas lacking windows, we focused on maximizing light through strategic design choices. Light-coloured surfaces, reflective materials, and layered lighting create an illusion of brightness and openness. The carefully placed LED lighting not only highlights key features but also adds a contemporary touch.
